About

Hi! I'm Charles.
I'm a lot of things. I am a husband, a dad, a son, and a Christian foremost. I'm also a musician and a photographer.
As a gamer, I'm driven by my experience with a plethora of games since the 90s, most notably the Final Fantasy series (VII & Tactics), Xenogears, the Sword and Fairy series, and the Xuan-Yuan Sword series (think Taiwanese FF), as well as MMO & multiplayer games in the 00s including MUDs, Ragnarok Online, Crossgate (MMO by Enix), CS and R6. For the post-Steam era, I'll just show my library below with only the games I actually finished, not mentioning everything I did on console and the combined 400+ days of playtime spent in World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy XIV.

Game is an art and the most powerful form of communication to me. The emotional impact I experienced from games has shaped my tastes in everything. I was initially most drawn to the music side of games, idolizing Nobuo Uematsu & co. from Squaresoft, and Jesper Kyd by his works in Assassin's Creed and Hitman. I started learning everything about music production and attended Game Sound Con every year, which exposed me to the technical side of things and presented ideas so innovative they'd take center stage in gameplay if ever implemented. The Music Sync System in my portfolio is the result of that experience.
By that time, I had 0 programming and engine experience. So for the past 7 years, I've started learning everything by taking online courses, joining game jams, leading teams, and working on personal projects on the side. In this journey, I've always aimed to produce something that's truly innovative and never-before-seen to further the state of the art. Time and again, I find myself wanting to continue down the road of development despite any hardships, hoping others could experience the same impact from games as I did.
